REVELATION OF SEPTEMBER 29, 1843

Our Lord announces that He desires the Work of Reparation to be spread by means of the press. He assures Sister Mary that this Devotion contains nothing that is not in conformity with the spirit of the Church.

DURING EVENING PRAYER on the Feast of St. Michael, September 29, our Lord gathering the powers of my soul made me understand that the twenty-four short exercises of Reparation which I have composed and which I recite were pleasing to His Divine Heart, and that these prayers made Him forget all my faults.

As our Reverend Mother was at that time very ill, I prayed for her recovery, but our Lord made known to me that if the community desired to obtain such improvement in Reverend Mother's health as would enable her to perform the duties incumbent on her office, we must make a Novena of Reparation for blasphemies uttered against God's Holy Name, before the Blessed Sacrament, by reciting in addition to the "Golden Arrow" the Twenty-four Exercises which He had inspired me to compose a short time ago. Our Lord also made known to me that it was only proper for children to help their mother, and that if we rendered this satisfaction to His Heart, He would open It and pour out a torrent of graces on our community.

I felt I could not possibly refuse to carry out this order of our Saviour, especially when, as an inducement, He now added:

"Oh, if you only knew what I have done for you and how much I have cared for your soul, you would be truly astonished to see the Creator abasing Himself so profoundly towards a mere creature!"

I, therefore, replied, "Oh, Lord, although I will risk receiving humiliations, nevertheless, I pledge myself to deliver Your message, knowing that You will be glorified by this Novena."

Placing myself under Mary's protection, I reported this communication of our Lord to the prioress, who on that day was suffering most acutely. Because of the violent pains she at once gave her consent for the community to make this Novena. On my part, I never had cause to regret any effort I made in this Work which aimed at honoring the Name of our Lord, for He never allows Himself to be outdone in generosity.

On that same day, which was the Feast of St. Michael, the Saviour made known to me that He desired our Reverend Mother to get busy with the matter of circulating the Prayers of Reparation, for He wanted this Devotion to be spread. As a guarantee of the genuineness of my mission, He promised me an improvement in the prioress' health. I then felt encouraged to promise Him in return that if He, indeed, cured our Mother that she, on her part, would not neglect His Work of Reparation. At the end of the Novena, the prioress received the favor which our Lord had promised, and since her health was now so much better, I said to our Saviour, "Dear Lord, I will never hesitate to perform whatever errands You may have for me to do."

At that time our Lord also assured me that this Devotion of Reparation contained nothing contrary to the spirit of the Church, saying that, indeed, what else is the Church ever doing if not continually glorifying the Holy Name of God?

Ever since that time, He has even more deeply plunged me into the work of making reparation for blasphemy. Moreover, since He continued to press me to ask that these Prayers of Reparation be published and circulated, I relayed His messages in spite of the extreme repugnance I felt in bringing this matter to my superior's attention. Each time that I did so, I felt my soul relieved of a heavy burden.
