REVELATION OF MARCH 16, 1844
Our Lord describes to Sister Mary the enormity of the sins of blasphemy, and again demands that the Work of Reparation be established, saying that this Work surpasses various other devotions.
The Saviour also asks Sister Mary of St. Peter the pointed question: "Do you want to walk in My ways?" When she replies, "Yes," He rewards her by saying: "Consider this one of the most beautiful days of your life,"
DURING holy Mass our Lord showed me the enormity of the crime of blasphemy, saying to me:
"You cannot comprehend the malice and abomination of this sin. If My Justice were not restrained by My Mercy, indeed, it would instantly crush the guilty. In fact, all creatures, even those that are inanimate, would avenge this outrage against their Creator's majesty, but I have an eternity in which to punish the guilty."
After saying this, our Lord made me understand the excellence of the Work of Reparation and He made me see how the Devotion of Reparation surpasses other devotions, how pleasing it is to God, as also to the Angels and Saints, and how beneficial it is to the Church.
Our Lord however warned me that I should not be disappointed if I did not feel any particular gratifying emotions while reciting the Prayers of Reparation. He also told me that the demon would give me an aversion for this devotion, but that these things should not worry me.
"Oh, if you only knew what great merit you acquire by saying even once, 'Admirable is the Name of God,' in the spirit of reparation for blasphemy!"
The second communication which I received from our Lord was during night prayers. I felt quite unhappy while recalling all my imperfections and therefore approaching our Lord with confidence, I uncovered to Him my great needs. He told me in answer that when a good person who is also very rich makes the acquaintance of a poor one, there is occasion for rejoicing, since the goodness and charity of such a benefactor when combined are sufficient to relieve all the other person's want and misery.
He then made me see how really needy and weak I was, and how poorly I had profited by all the graces He had sent me. Nevertheless, He was willing in His Mercy to forgive me everything. I therefore asked His pardon for my sins, and He granted it to me, saying:
"A workman cleans the tool which He wants to use."
After that our Saviour made me see to what degree a Carmelite must be divested of self and detached from everything, while she seeks only the glory of God and His Church, and the salvation of souls, which should in turn embue her with a desire for suffering and humiliations.
This Divine Saviour then taught me how of myself I could never expect to acquire these virtues, but that He Who had forgiven me all my past sins, could readily give birth to these virtues in my soul, provided I would beg Him to do this.
"Are you willing to walk in My ways?" He asked me pointedly. To this I replied, "Yes, Lord."
He then continued:
"Cast yourself blindly into My Sacred Heart. For your badge I give you the cross and the thorns that lay buried within My Heart. Do not turn away from this cross nor from these thorns because, My daughter, you are being called to a high perfection. Think therefore only of Me and in return I will think of you. Attend to My affairs and I promise you that I will take care of yours. And now, as long as you live I want you to look upon this day as one of the most beautiful days of your entire life!"
