REVELATION OF JUNE 6, 1844
Our Lord tells Sister Mary to have courage and confidence and to engrave these two words in her heart.
THE WORK OF REPARATION is like a devouring fire within me which consumes me and makes me suffer, sometimes more and sometimes less, as it pleases God. In all my prayers I beg our Lord to save our nation by establishing in all her cities His Work of Reparation, and to raise up apostolic men for this purpose. Oh, Jesus, I can do nothing for this Work since I am but a poor and worthless creature, but accept my sufferings, and enlighten the one who can be of service to You in this great Work.
On the day on which it was my turn again to receive Communion in fulfillment of the vow made to the Sacred Heart, our Lord, taking pity on my sufferings, gave me a taste of consolation, lifting my soul up for nearly two hours. In this sweet calm He said to me:
"My child, have courage and confidence! Moreover, engrave these two words, courage and confidence, in your heart. Oh, if you only knew the profit which accrues to your soul from suffering these pains, you would thank me for having given them to you. I come to pay you a visit merely, but not to remain with you in a way which would gratify your senses. You shall, instead, drink the chalice, but be consoled, for although you will not see Me, I will not be far from you. In fact, it will be I, Myself, who will hold the chalice to your lips while you drink it, and after this trial is past, I will again allow you to taste My consolations. You have deserved these sufferings through your many infidelities; however, it is not in vengeance but rather through charity that I give you these trials."
I then took the liberty of asking whether the Chaplet which I recited to glorify His Name and honor the Mysteries of His life was pleasing to Him, and He answered:
"All that one does for My glory is for Me a delicious repast!"
He encouraged me to recite this Chaplet especially at those times when I found it difficult to make mental prayer.
