REVELATION OF JANUARY 23, 1846

FEAST OF THE ESPOUSALS OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN

Our Lord complains again that the nation is provoking the justice of God, and that Sister Mary should offer the Holy Face in reparation, or else the guilty country will reap chastisements.

I CANNOT restrain my tears at the thought of what our Lord told me after I received Holy Communion this morning. The following are the terrifying words which He spoke to me:

"The face of this nation has become unsightly in the eyes of My Father. The people are provoking the arm of His justice. To obtain mercy, offer therefore to the Eternal Father the Face of His Son in which He takes His delights. Unless this be done, the nation will experience God's just punishments. Yet the country's deliverance from these evils lies in the Face of the Saviour. Behold here another proof of My goodness towards this nation which repays Me with ingratitude!"

Frightened I said to our Lord, "Saviour, is it really You Who gives me these revelations?" He answered me:

"Were you able to obtain them yourself at the time of your last Communion? I purposely abandoned you to profound darkness during the last eight days to help you realize that it is I Who reveal Myself to you."

I then prayed as follows:

"Eternal Father, we offer You the adorable Face of Your Well-beloved Son, for the honor and glory of Your Holy Name, and for the salvation of our country."
